Project Value: £1.3 million
Project Duration: 30 Weeks
Main Contractor: Pettifer Construction Ltd
Consultant: EIC Ltd
Business Sector: Education
This development consists of a new three storey resource learning centre teaching block, inclusive of a link block at 1st floor level connecting to the existing main block. A glazed canopy covers the courtyard area between the new and existing teaching buildings.
To provide complete design and installation for the new learning block with a combination of services including heating, lighting, hot water, small power, gas supply, IT & telephone wiring systems, natural ventilation, mechanical ventilation, fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarm, three lifts, special extract to kitchens and a building management system.
Working closely with the Main Contractor throughout the programme to achieve the phased handover and occupation of the first and second floor areas, while working within the ground floor areas, was a particular challenge as occupancy remained in a number of areas.
The design of the systems associated with mains & distribution, fire alarms, emergency lighting, IT systems and building management controls were all adapted to successfully accommodate the early occupation required by the client.
In addition to the phased handover of first and second floor areas, works continued to the ground floor.
