This project involved the redevelopment of the Savernake Hospital site including the new build and refurbishment of the existing "listed" Gilbert Scott building and the Day Hospital.
The redevelopment has provided the following services for the community - thirty five intermediate care places, a rehabilitation department, a mental illness unit, X-ray department, outpatients department, a minor injuries unit and a complementary medicine suite.
Electrical Installation
The electrical installation comprised of a new incoming main cable from a new local substation. LV switch panel with distribution boards are located throughout the building. General & emergency lighting small power nurse call voice & data, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, intruder alarm, lighting protection and mechanical services wiring were provided.
Mechanical Installation
The mechanical installation comprised of a new plant room / boiler house on the ground floor together with a new gas supply installed from a meter positioned close to the boundary. Within the building the mechanical services installed comprised of LPHW system and air handling units within the first floor plant room. Hot & cold water services were provided throughout the building with air conditioning and ventilation in the circulation areas. Around the perimeter of the building an extension to the existing fire hydrant service was installed.
A comprehensive commissioning and demonstration of services was carried out to meet the strict standards required by the NHS inspection team.
All works were undertaken with due consideration to the patients and staff in the existing mental health unit as any loss of services would have seriously disrupted the day-to-day functions.
