A new building was constructed at Malvern Hills Science Park facility in Malvern, Worcestershire on a clear site adjacent to the phase 1 & 2 works and consists of two separate wings from a central rotunda staircase to provide Malvern Hills Science Park clients with flexible office accommodation for area A & B with potential for laboratory accommodation for be fitted out on the ground floor of area A.
Consisted of the supply, installation and commissioning of both Mechanical and Electrical services. These included the installation of domestic hot and cold water rainwater recovery services, above ground drainage, ground source heat pump installation, ventilation services, automatic controls, fire alarm system, power, lighting control system, security system, telephone / data system and a disabled alarm.
Careful consideration and co-ordination was required by EIC due to the project intermediate floors in the building comprising of Termodeck planks, which allowed passive heating and cooling techniques, comprising of air transferred through the floor structure before being ducted through the raised floor voids and then through floor displacement grilles to transfer ducts back to the rooftop ventilation plant. Due to this EIC had to use our engineering expertise to ensure that the correct materials were used, systems were installed correctly and commissioned, and set up accordingly to reflect the fact the engineering services for the project included several energy efficient solutions and renewable energy sources to provide a green building.
